PORTLAND, Ore. Zach Parise Wild Jersey Authentic . -- LaMarcus Aldridge returned to the Trail Blazers lineup, happy to know that things didnt go awry without him. Portlands All-Star forward had 16 points and the Blazers won their fifth straight game with a 102-96 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night. Aldridge was averaging 23.9 points and 11.4 rebounds before a left groin injury caused him to miss five games. "Im not going to call guys out but I thought that they just played great," Aldridge said about the team in his absence. "I thought everybody did more, whether it was rebounding or whatever. Everybody just played better." The win moved the Blazers (41-18) a season-high 23-games over .500. After failing to make the playoffs last season, Portland sits in third place in the Western Conference. Robin Lopez led the Blazers in scoring for the first time this season with 18 points, while Nicolas Batum had a career-high 16 rebounds. "That was a solid win for us," said Blazers coach Terry Stotts. "We did a lot of good things. I felt like we were in control for the most part." Kenneth Faried, Randy Foye and Evan Fournier scored 16 points apiece, but Denver (25-33) lost its fifth straight. Faried, who also had 10 rebounds, took a hard fall with less than two minutes left and appeared to injure his right knee, but finished out the game. Portland won all four meetings this season against Denver, its first sweep of the series since the 1999 season, when the Blazers won all three games against the Nuggets. Damian Lillards driving layup gave Portland a 100-87 lead with 4:09 left in the game and the Nuggets never really challenged. Lillard finished with 17 points. The Blazers had a bit of a rest after a 124-80 rout of Brooklyn on Wednesday night. The Nets played in Denver the next night, routing the Nuggets 112-89. "The effort was there and it was something to build off of because everybody -- the whole city of Denver -- after that loss to Brooklyn had a sour taste in our mouth," Foye said. "We just wanted to get back out there and try to give the fans something to cheer about." The Nuggets have won just one of their last 11 games. Aldridge was greeted with a roar from the crowd at the Moda Center when he was announced as a starter. "It felt good," Aldridge said. "My timing was a little off but it felt good to be back out there playing with the guys." Second-year centre Meyers Leonard also returned after a five-game absence because of a sprained right ankle. But the Blazers did not have forwards Thomas Robinson, who has a left knee injury, and Joel Freeland, with a right knee sprain. The Nuggets were hurting, too. Top scorer Ty Lawson missed his ninth straight game with a left rib fracture. But guard Aaron Brooks, acquired before the trade deadline from Houston, played despite a sore ankle, and Wilson Chandler returned after missing a game because of a right knee sprain. Denver closed within 52-47 late in the half after a pair of free throws from Faried, but Lopezs dunk and Lillards layup helped push Portlands lead to 56-48 at the break. Lopez led all players with 12 points. Lillard, Batum and Leonard had consecutive dunks to give the Blazers an early 22-12 lead. The Blazers stretched the lead to 73-60 in the third quarter on Batums finger-roll layup. Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said he liked the effort after the loss to Brooklyn, but pointed to missed free throws. Denver was 23 of 35 from the line. "You lose the game by six points and you miss 12 free throws, that can be the difference in the game," Shaw said. "I thought the team played a lot better and responded after the embarrassing game we had the other night at home against Brooklyn. So we got better tonight and Im happy with our effort." Notes: Brooks played at the University of Oregon and got warm applause during pregame game introductions. .... Batum becomes the fourth Trail Blazer this season with 16 or more rebounds in a game, joining Aldridge, Lopez and Robinson. ... It was the first time this season that no player for the Blazers or their opponent had a player with at least 20 points. Thomas Vanek Wild Jersey Authentic . The Goldeyes (10-7) lost 4-1 to the Saltdogs (8-9) Sunday afternoon before 5,834 sizzling fans at Shaw Park. The loss drops Winnipegs record to 3-4 during this past weeks seven-game homestand. Alex Stalock Wild Jersey Authentic . And follow TSN.ca right through Deadline Day for all the updates. From Pierre LeBrun While Anaheim GM Bob Murray said earlier this season he was not going to trade Jonas Hiller despite the fact hes an unrestricted free agent on July 1, some sources have told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun that Murray might be willing to move another goalie. http://www.hockeywildauthority.com/darcy-kuemper-wild-jersey-c-19/ . Make that, almost always subjective. Saturday at Carrow Road, the spirit of fair play trumped the rulebook, costing Norwich City three points.TORONTO - Two weeks into training camp, Raptors All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan hasnt missed a beat, picking up where he left off following last years breakout campaign. His conditioning, confidence and leadership qualities have caught the attention of Dwane Casey and the rest of the coaching staff, something the 25-year-old credits to his eventful off-season. With his sixth and most important season around the corner, DeRozan looks back at what he is calling the busiest summer of his life, capped off by a character building experience representing his country and helping Team USA win gold at the FIBA World Cup. DeRozan shares the highs and lows of his experience, including his toughest moment - watching Paul George suffer a gruesome leg injury, recalling what that moment was like for him and his teammates. He also has strong words for those who believe the risk of lending NBA players to international competition outweighs the reward. You can listen to the full interview HERE. Below is a transcript of the conversation. TSN.ca: DeMar, for you and Kyle both it seems like youve hit the ground running, a seamless transition from the season to playoffs to the summer and now to camp. How important has it been for you, not just this year but throughout your career, to make sure youre in game shape when you come into camp each season? DeROZAN: Its definitely important, man. Its big because me personally, I never like playing catch-up. Id rather do that on my own time, when I first start working out after the season. Me and [Lowry] understand we carry a big load and weve got to lead by example. So if we come into training camp out of shape or whatever, its going to look bad and might carry over for the rest of our team. Weve got to push them and show them were working extremely hard. Weve got to be the toughest dudes out there when it comes to working hard. Thats our mindset and its been going well. TSN.ca: Is that something youre making a concerted effort in doing during the summer, making sure youre always in game shape and ready to go? DeROZAN: Yeah, because I learned something new last year, me personally. To be prepared for the playoffs you have to really take care of your body, really be in shape, playing an extended, longer season than Im usually playing. So this summer I really stepped up my conditioning, weight training, understanding Ive got to get a lot stronger come March, April, going into the playoffs. So just a learning experience, things you go through. TSN.ca: Did it feel like it was a busier summer for you this year? DeROZAN: Yeah, for sure. I had a lot going [on]. I was in Vegas for a while, doing the [USA] traaining camp so this technically feels like my third training camp throughout the summer. Jared Spurgeon Wild Jersey Authentic. Its definitely been a busier summer but in a good way. I competed with a lot of great players and teamed up with a lot of great players who I can learn a lot from and I think its just carrying over. TSN.ca: Is there anyone specifically on that USA team, either a player or coach, that you took a little more from, on or off the court? DeROZAN: Not just one person in particular. I think just being around 11 top players in our league for a month and a half and learning from them, day in and day out, really played a big part in mental focus and really changing my approach to the game more. TSN.ca: You had been involved in the USA program previously with the select team, how was this experience different for you? DeROZAN: Actually winning a gold medal and being on the actual team, instead of just being one of the guys trying to make the team, I feel like I just took that next step. Thats what it was all about, why I did the select team in the first place and it was an honour being a part of it because I got the opportunity to win a gold medal at a high level. TSN.ca: I imagine one of the toughest parts of the experience was being there and seeing Paul Georges devastating injury, do you remember what that moment was like? DeROZAN: Yeah, it was just a dead moment. A real dead, sad moment. Just to see anybody get hurt like that, because he was a close friend of ours and that type of player. Im a good friend of Paul and just to see somebody go down like that and have to miss a whole season is definitely sad. TSN.ca: I think a lot of people would acknowledge that a freak injury like that can happen anywhere, at any time but some might make the argument that its too big of a risk and NBA players shouldnt be allowed to participate in international competition. What would you say to those people? DeROZAN: Nah, man. You can slip down the stairs and hurt yourself. It dont mean nothing. Thats all bull crap, honestly, when people say that because when you have the opportunity to do something that you might never have in your life again, why not do it? TSN.ca: For you, what did you take out of that experience that you wouldnt have had you not been on that team, playing for your country? DeROZAN: Man, I couldnt even explain it in words, honestly. It was so much. It was just life, you know what I mean? Overall, when it comes to life and basketball, your personal life, everything. You go through so much and you see something new that basketball takes you to. It took me winning a gold medal and everything else speaks for itself.
